An african safari style 4WD vehicle is the most indicated way to feel nature and better observe the rich examples of the Pantanal wildlife. Neither sand (on dry season), nor mud (on wet season) are obstacle for us to reach all year round all the richness of this ecological sanctuary.

The Cuiabá, São Lourenço, Piquiri and Three Brothers rivers are navigated by boats equipped with radio-communication that permits the location of the Jaguars lying down on the banks, playing on beaches or crossing the rivers. Small rivers navigated by small boats are the best way to see animals on the dry season, as all animals are looking for water. The rivers are not so long and also not so deep, so, a boat with a silent paddling instead of a noisy motor would be better to conserve nature and to appreciate it as close as possible. In big rivers like Cuiabá, the distances are larger and the river is deep enough to accept our motor boat trips. In lakes, where the wind can be strong, motor boats are used to guarantee safety to its passengers.

The Pantanal horse is a genetic adaptation of the Andalucian horses brought by the Spanish on the 16th. Able to eat flooded grasses on keeping oxygen into his huge lung, the horses are the most versatile way to explore the World’s largest wetland, through areas that neither by feet nor by canoe could be trespassed. In silence, the walking is the activity that approach man to nature; the best way to observe birds and to photograph the wildlife. The ‘islands of vegetation’ permit observation of many birds nests, monkeys, rodents and other mammals. Some of the trails are close to the lodges and are reached by feet. Other trails are reached by horse, by boar or by vehicle. The best time to do it are in the early morning, what we call ‘sunrise walking’.

Some lodges offer metal or wooden towers that climb 12; 25 or even 50 meters from the soil to offer a wonderful view of the immenseness of the Pantanal wetland. From the top, the privileged view permits the observation and movement of many animals, which is a gorgeous equipment for photographing them. Magnificent sunrises or sunsets are broken just by the flocks of birds that cross the air in a perfect harmony.

Differently than the immense Iguazu falls which is only seen, in the regions of Chapada, Jaciara and Nobres there are smaller waterfalls (up to 70m) with warm and crystalline water that permit a relaxing time, especially after the wildlife exhaustive journeys done in Pantanal or Amazon. At the Chapada NP, whole day treks through the Savannah allow visiting 6 of the waterfalls with gorgeous panoramic views of the descending from the Plateau to the Lowlands.

All together its three Biomes Amazon, Pantanal and Savannah, Mato Grosso accounts almost half of number of species of birds in all South America. Many trails on the most varied environments are accompanied by our naturalist or ornithologist tour guides according to the level of curiosity birders have. At a scenario that is the meeting of various geological eras, diverse rock formations from the sandstone to the limestone produced the natural spectacles of the caves – some with stalactites, some with paints or shapes of the proto-indigenous people who lived here about 5.000 years ago. Some of these caves are not yet open for visits or demand a pre-booking.

Endless water springs produce crystalline water on regions covered by rich vegetation, which, together, permit the existence of a rich under aquatic fauna. The practice of Snorkel or – for the adepts – Scuba Diving in fresh water allow the observation of rare fauna species such as the Sting-ray fishes; Coral snake among colorful fishes.

In the region of Jaciara having as neighbor the many hot water springs, many rivers born and flow down in direction to the Pantanal descending in waterfalls and rapids that, curiosity, have their level of difficulty coming from 1; 1,5; 2; 2,5; 3; 4 and 5, which permits to anyone with no experience at all to go trying from the easiest to the most difficulty ones and get the satisfaction of a wonderful adventure.

At the meeting of three of the most important river basins in Brazil, Mato Grosso offers the possibility of fishing very varied species of the rich aquatic fauna. Since the amazing Peacock to the brave Dourado or the immense Jaú cat-fish, the local rivers shelter large trophy for the fishing lovers, however even doing Ecotourism (which demands small water courses), there would be the possibility of experience the catch-release of the feared Piranhas.

The way of transportation that less pollutes the environment, bike is softly done in the flat Pantanal or hardly at the hills of the Chapada Tableland.
